Included in the specialty category are the following types of trades: asbestos abatement, concrete, demolition/wrecking, electrical, glazing/curtain wall, mechanical, masonry, painting, roofing, sheet metal, steel erection, utility, wall/ceiling, and excavation/foundation.

The American General Contractors of San Diego held the 7th Annual Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) to recognize companies who have developed and implemented excellent safety and loss prevention programs achieved through management commitment, employee training and program innovation.

AGC of San Diego awarded Pacific Coast Steel First Place in the Specialty Contractor category for 2005.  The purpose of the AGC Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) is to recognize those construction companies who excel at safety performance. CSEA closely examines each candidate’s commitment to safety and occupational health management and risk control.  Judges look for evidence of company management commitment, active employee participation, safety training, work site hazard identification and control, and safety program innovation.

Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute, CRSI awarded Pacific Coast Steel the Shop Safety Award for achieving a Zero Incident Rate in 2005 for their safe fabrication shop operations in Northern California. CRSI sponsored this national safety competition to recognize companies who have achieved zero accidents as a result of excellence in safety program design, implementation and compliance.

DR Horton awarded Pacific Coast Steel its Professional Contractor Award for dependability, dedication and professionalism in 2005.  Past projects completed for DR Horton include Vista Terraza in the Los Angeles region, Pell Place in San Diego, and La Boheme, a condominium high rise building,  located in the popular area of San Diego’s North Park. 

AGC Build San Diego awards and honors San Diego’s most highly skilled construction contractors, their project teams and the facilities they have built.  The awards are given to those contractors exemplifying excellence in project management, innovation in construction techniques or materials, excellence in client service, contributions to the community, and the ability to meet challenges of a difficult job.  Pacific Coast Steel has been honored with the AGC Build San Diego Award in 1999 for Leichtag Family Healing Garden Children’s Hospital and Health Center, in 1998 for North County Regional Center Expansion, and in 1998 for Alvarado Reservoirs & Garden.
